The Upper Hunter Land Use Strategy outlines Council’s key land use policies and principles for the Upper Hunter Local Government Area. It identifies demands for key infrastructure and indicates land potentially suitable for rezoning. The Strategy is referenced by Council when processing requests to amend the Upper Hunter Local Environmental Plan.
The Land Use Strategy was adopted by Council at its meeting held on 27 February 2017 and was conditionally endorsed the Department of Planning & Environment on 21 July 2017.
It is important to note that the preliminary investigation areas identified in the Strategy have not been endorsed by the Department. Therefore, any requests for rezoning of land in these areas are unlikely to be supported at this time.
