Each school term SAM U3A offer a group of courses/subjects/activities that are aimed at retirees. The groups each run for up to 8 weeks. They are non examinable, there are no tests. It is based on the elderly stimulating each other with a particular area of interest.
A $25/year fee covers membership, insurances, copyright, publicity. Each group leader is a volunteer. There may be a cost for resources used in some classes.
