The Rural Water Scheme has been investigated by UHSC over the past 15 years. It has taken several forms over that time and designs have changed in response to both cost and demand for the water. Following a successful funding application for the Scone to Murrurundi town water pipeline, the Rural Water Scheme project must be revisited.
There is an opportunity to piggy-back off the new pipeline through an increase in capacity of the system which would take water to properties adjacent to the proposed route. This will be a one-off opportunity though and future access to the scheme will not be possible as any surplus water entitlement from Council’s current Hunter River allocation will be sold, based on the identified demand for the rural water scheme.
Those wishing to secure water entitlement to this scheme will be required to complete a request for water. This information will then be used to determine if the project proceeds to design and construction. Your response will assist with the design of the scheme, produce a financial model and then determine the final pricing of the scheme and water access. The survey information will be used to decide who receives a contract and supply will only be provided to those who have signed contracts. Given the deadline for design of the Murrurundi pipeline project, the demand will have to be identified and contracted to each user by the end of June 2015.
The meeting is vital for you to understand the proposed terms of water supply, likely pricing range and to discuss possible options for supply to your property if you are not adjacent to the pipeline on the New England Highway.
