Each year, the Division of Local Government undertakes reviews of local government to measure how individual council's rate against industry standards of best practice. In 2011 the Division undertook a review of Upper Hunter Shire Council.
The review involves interviews with the Mayor and General Manager, interviews with a cross sections of staff, discussions with councillors observations of a council meeting and a review of policies and documents.
Upper Hunter Shire Council has prepared an Action Plan and commenced the implementation of the review's recommendations. The full report and action plan can be downloaded below.
