The Senior’s Festival (formerly Seniors Week) will be celebrated from 1-10 April in 2016, and events have been planned to provide opportunities for people 55 years and over to enjoy the celebrations.
To get the ball rolling, Upper Hunter Shire Council and Integrated Living are supporting a coach trip to the DAG Sheep Station at Nundle on Wednesday 30 March. The coach leaves Murrurundi at 10.00am and transport to Murrurundi will be arranged for Merriwa and Scone Seniors with a booking. Bookings are essential, so please call 02 6540 1350 to reserve your place. The cost is $15 and includes a delicious lunch.
On 4 and 5 April, the Collector’s Roadshow is coming to the Upper Hunter Shire. Murrurundi Arts Council and Upper Hunter Shire Council have engaged Tom Thomson, a familiar voice for ABC radio listeners, to assess and value items. Bring along your trinkets, vases, etc. to the White Hart Hotel in Murrurundi on Monday 4 April and CWA Rooms Merriwa on Tuesday 5 April to have them valued. Both events commence at 10.00am.
Two free Sit Dancing classes are also planned for those who love moving to music, all while sitting down. Council has engaged teacher Marcel Baaijens to run classes on Wednesday 6 April commencing at 10.00am at Gummun Place Hostel in Merriwa and 2.30pm at the Murrurundi Library. Book in to the Merriwa class with Sue Duggan on 02 6521 7011 and the Murrurundi class with Virginia Risby on 02 6540 1363. Everyone is welcome to come for some toe tapping fun.
A range of physical activities are also available during the week with a new gentle gym program, Aqua Aerobics and Heartmoves Exercises.
Ever wondered what’s behind the front counter of Upper Hunter Shire Council’s Scone Administration Centre? Join staff for a guided tour of your Council and refreshments on Friday 8 April at 11.00am and again at 2.00pm. Book in with Kerri Cone on 02 6540 1141.
