Celebrate the horses’ birthday month on Saturday 13 August 2016, at the Scone Country Markets.
Head to the Scone Visitor Information and Horse Centre (VIC) for an equine themed market day from 12.00pm to 4.00pm.
There will be balloons, a bubble machine, birthday cake and face painting by Sparkles the Clown. Join in the celebrations and enjoy a slice of carrot cake (of course, of course it’s for the horse!) and listen to some live music whilst browsing through the stalls.
There will also be a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids, a sausage sizzle and a special appearance by Big Blue the horse sculpture by Tasmanian artist Nick Adams. If that doesn’t satisfy your thirst for all things equine the VIC is exhibiting a ‘Retrospective look at the Hunter Valley’s Equestrian Olympians from the 1960s through to 2012”.
Upper Hunter Shire Mayor Wayne Bedggood said market days were important.
“Council holds the markets to promote a sense of community, boost the local economy, help small businesses and artisans, and keep the Scone CBD vibrant on weekends.
“The Christmas in July market was a big hit with visitors and locals alike,” Cr Bedggood said.
“This month we celebrate the Horses birthday.
“The September markets will feature the Rural Fire Service who will be on hand with their two trucks and a Junior Firefighting obstacle course.”
