Upper Hunter Shire Council is encouraging everyone to register for the “Run for Olivia” fundraiser Fun Run and enlist family and friends as sponsors.
The community, sporting clubs, schools and families are invited to participate and help fundraise for The Olivia Inglis Foundation to support safety initiatives in equine sport and provide training opportunities for young riders.
The four kilometre Fun Run is just one of the attractions at the upcoming market day at Bill Rose Sports Complex on Saturday, 11 March 2017.
At the markets there will also be a bungee run, jumping castle, Sparkles the Clown, live music from the Ohs, lots of market stalls and the Scone and District Netball Association will be running a sausage sizzle.
Council’s Tourism and Events Coordinator Jan Sinclair said another attraction of the markets will be a Ladies Pamper Parlour.
“In recognition of International Women’s Day, an annual global event to promote the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, Council’s Community Services staff are hosting the Ladies Pamper Parlour with mini massages, mini facials and beauty products, luxurious sleepwear, lingerie and much more,” she said.
Council staff will be at the Ladies Pamper Parlour talking to people about the planned Disability Inclusion Action Plan and seniors’ services.
Ms Sinclair said people were planning on attending from outside the Shire to take part in ‘Run for Olivia’.
“We even have a bus load of students from New England Girls’ School coming down to participate in the Fun Run which is great and they have been conducting their own fund raising in the lead up to the event and are running a massive raffle which will be drawn at 9.15am on the day,” Ms Sinclair said.
“There are some prizes and of course trophies up for grabs, not just for first past the finish line but for who raises the most money through sponsorship.”
Fun Run registration is only $5 per person or $10 for a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids under 12 years). All proceeds from registration fees goes towards the Olivia Inglis Foundation.
The Fun Run is being supported by the Scone Horse Festival, Scone Horse Trials, Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Upper Hunter Shire Council, McCallum Inglis and Scone Sports Store.
Registration to participate in the Fun Run and sponsorship forms are available at Council’s Administration Centre in Scone, Scone Sports Store and the Scone Visitor Information Centre (VIC), downloaded below, or by emailing email@example.com . You can also register on the day at 7.30am, Saturday 11 March. The Fun Run starts at 8am and markets and entertainment from 8.30am.
