Music is in the air around Scone over the next week as 180 young musicians, dancers and other performers prepare for the 15th Upper Hunter Shire and Kia-Ora Youth Music Camp and Concert which returns to Scone from 16 to 18 March, 2016.
The camp involves students from year three through to year 12 from every school in the Upper Hunter Shire.
During the popular annual event, the young performers spend three days working and rehearsing with amazing tutors and conductors, in preparation for a finale concert at 6pm Friday 18 March 2016 at Scone High School.
The concert will include a wide range of arts including KAWAI piano, marimba and ukulele, as well as dance, choir, concert band and string ensemble.
In the lead up to the concert, the young people - rehearse, practice and make new friends at a music ‘camp’ held at various locations around Scone.
This is the third year the Upper Hunter Shire Council has assisted run the camp and concert in conjunction with Founder and Youth Music Camp Coordinator, Gillian Miles.
Sponsors of the event are Kia-Ora Estates Pty Ltd, The Paradice Family, Newgate, KAWAI, Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music and Upper Hunter Shire Council.
Tickets for Friday night’s concert are available from the Upper Hunter Shire Council Scone Administration Centre for $10.
