Merriwa’s Gummun Place Hostel welcomed the new Management Committee in December 2015. The Management Committee was then ratified at last night’s Council Meeting.
Hostel Management Committee Chair Cr Deirdre Peebles said she was delighted to be part of such a worthwhile facility and happy committee.
“The Hostel is an integral part of the community, caring for our aged.
“The staff do a wonderful job looking after the residents, always with the community in mind - encouraging residents to join in with activities and outings. In turn, the residents enjoy the company of young people, students from the schools and visitors alike,” Cr Peebles said.
Cr Peebles said the committee looked forward to continuing to support the continuous improvement of the facility.
“The committee is extremely grateful for the support from the community which is reflected in the fundraising contributions to the Hostel from numerous groups this year.
“These donations have enabled us to purchase new equipment that has significantly improved the wellbeing and safety of our residents and staff.
“Having said that, we are always looking for fresh faces with enthusiastic ideas to complement the committee that’s there and would very much welcome new members,” she said.If you would like to find out more about the Gummun Place Hostel or are interested in joining the committee, please contact Council’s Community Services Officer, Tash Taaffe on 6521 7000 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
