Upper Hunter Shire residents considering standing as a local government councillor are encouraged to book their seat for a free information briefing in Scone.
The Upper Hunter Shire Council have engaged the services of Local Government NSW to brief potential candidates for Council. The briefing will be held from 6pm to 9pm, Wednesday 20 July 2016 at the Upper Hunter Shire Council Administration Centre, 135 Liverpool St, Scone.
The briefing will cover candidates’ roles and responsibilities including ethics, protocols and procedures for meetings, legal and financial controls, Council structure, Charter, and Code of Conduct and support available to councillors.

The next Local Government Elections will be held on Saturday, 10 September 2016.
Nominations to stand as a candidate open on Monday, 1 August 2016 and close 12 noon, Wednesday, 10 August 2016.
Voting is compulsory for all residents of the Upper Hunter Shire who are registered on the electoral roll. Electors enrolled for Federal and State elections are automatically enrolled for their local Council area. Enrolment forms can be obtained from any Australia Post office.
