There are art and craft activities at the libraries, excursions and movie nights at the Youth Centres, sports and other outdoor fun, and SOOSH always has a packed program.
A highlight will be a free afternoon of touch football and information about good mental health from 4pm Saturday 8 October at Scone Park. “Come and Tackle it Head On” is an initiative of Council, Mental Health Month, Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, Headspace, Scone Touch Football Juniors, and Scone Junior Rugby League Football Club. Young people 12 to 18 years and their parents and carers are welcome to come along, enjoy a free barbecue after the game and meet some local and national footy legends.
Other sports events include tennis coaching at Parkville on 4 October and at Scone Tennis Club – 5 to 7 October, gymnastics at Scone Youth Centre 4 and 5 October, and a fun sports day at Scone on 5 October for children in years 3 to 6.
Merriwa Youth Centre has an excursion to Muswellbrook Cinema on Thursday 29 September, Murrurundi Youth Centre is off to Tamworth Trampolines on Tuesday 4 October and there is a PJs, pizza, popcorn and movies night on Friday 7 October at Scone Youth Centre.
The libraries’ holiday program includes a special free event for children 3 to 7 years with the “Dandelions” author and illustrator team at 10.30am, Thursday 6 October 2016 at Scone Library.
Other activities at the libraries include making nature mobiles, wooden rockets, jester hats, Chinese lanterns and decorating tambourines.
