The Story Behind the Card
Launched in 2018 under the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme, the card was introduced as a lifeline for farmers during the drought crisis. It provided autonomy in purchasing while ensuring funds stayed local, reducing the need to process and store donated goods. The program symbolised resilience and hope for the community.
In 2019, the program won the Local Government Award for Excellence in Communication. By August 2022, it reached a significant milestone with $1 million in funds loaded.
