Upper Hunter Shire Council is pleased with the recent funding announcement made by the NSW State Government regarding the $500 million Fixing Local Roads program. Over $2.9 million has been allocated to the Upper Hunter Shire Council for sealing work on Hunter Road, Moonan Flat.

The region has recently experienced significant rain events that have placed a tremendous strain on local road infrastructure. This funding will allow Upper Hunter Shire Council to improve Hunter Road and make journeys for locals, farmers, and freight safer, more efficient, and more reliable.

Mayor Maurice Collision commented, "I would like to extend my gratitude to the NSW State Government for their investment in our local community. This funding will have a significant impact on the daily lives of our residents and will ensure that we have the resources necessary to keep our roads safe and in good condition. I would also like to take a moment to thank Upper Hunter Shire Council for their continued advocacy and efforts in securing these funding opportunities. Their dedication to improving the local infrastructure and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents is greatly appreciated."

Construction for the project is estimated to begin in August. Follow our news section on our website for further updates.
