Sparkes Creek (Thornthwaite) Cemetery

The land where Thornthwaite Cemetery is located on Sparkes Creek Road was dedicated for use as a cemetery in 1881. The earliest headstone located in the cemetery dates back to 1850. The cemetery helps illustrate the excellent skills of the masons of the early periods with varying monument styles and techniques used. The cemetery also illustrates the strong relationships between families who have been buried in family groups across the land with most having resided in the area for many generations.
