Upper Hunter Council is proud to partner with Good for the Hood to present the "@HOME" program, an initiative designed to promote smart, sustainable actions that residents can take within their homes.

The program focuses on six key areas: Food, Energy, Electric Vehicles (EV), Low Impact Living, Reuse, and Composting.

Food: Collaborating with chef Madita Kosch, this segment educates the community on reducing food waste through clever menu planning, loving leftovers, and using up tricky leftover ingredients.

Energy: Energy efficiency champion Adam Corrigan will guide residents on saving money on energy bills and understanding the value of rooftop solar power.

Electric Vehicles (EV): Electric vehicle expert Daniel Bleakley is set to debunk common myths about EV use and provide a beginner’s guide to electric vehicles.

Low Impact Living: Kirsty Mootz, known as the low-impact queen, will share the fundamentals of easy green cleaning and natural skincare, offering DIY recipes and helpful hints.

Reuse: Emma Avery, a reuse expert, will explore embracing reusable items in daily life, such as cloth nappies and reusable sanitary items.

Composting: Composting aficionado Hannah Churton will teach the community how to reduce organic waste through home composting and worm farming.

Each area of focus includes online tutorials and local networking opportunities to ensure that participants have access to the necessary resources to implement changes. The program also features a series of live Q&A sessions scheduled throughout August and September, where leading experts will answer questions and provide insight into various sustainable practices.

Residents can sign up for the @HOME program via the provided link and will receive email campaigns from Good for the Hood to remind them of upcoming events. Join us in making a big change through small actions!
