Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993 contains a list of activities that require approval from Council. Examples of such activities include water and sewer works, connection to Council’s stormwater network, installing or upgrading an onsite sewage management system or installing a domestic wood heater.
If s68 activities are
to be undertaken independently from a development application, a completed
application for s68 approval needs to be submitted. If the s68 works are to be carried out as
part of a development application, a separate s68 application form is not
required if the appropriate section has been marked on the development
application form.
When planning to undertake works that require the use of Council roads, footpaths and any part of the road reserve, you must obtain approval under s138 of the Roads Act prior to undertaking works. This includes using a road or road reserve for activities such as road works, driveway works, sign placements, tree clearing, trenching, displaying goods on the footpath etc.
If the s138 works are
to be carried out as part of a development application, a separate s138
application form is not required if the appropriate section has been marked on
the development application form.
