During the last week of October five online 'Cooling your Home' workshops will be held to guide residents through making their homes more liveable in summer with affordable retrofits and adaptions. The workshops are run through the Beyond Zero Emmissions programs with Host Dr John J Shiel.
Most homes in the Hunter are not built for extreme heat - however there are DIY adaptations that can make your home more comfortable and safe - for both owners and renters.
Presented by Dr John Shiel and other guests, this workshop is interactive and offers practical information on:
• installing cost-effective retrofits
• updating appliances and using them more strategically
• creating an efficient one-room Cool Retreat
• simple behavioural adaptions to stay cool and survive heatwaves
The second part of the workshop is an opportunity to discuss DIY changes you can make at your home with guest subject-matter experts.
Proudly funded by the NSW Government ‘Increasing Resilience to Climate Change’ community grant program.
BZE is also grateful to Hunter Joint Organisation for assistance with this workshop program.
The workshops are free and open to all residents within the Hunter region.
From now until the first workshop on the 25th of October we are hoping to get the word out.
In the coming weeks workshops hosts will send through social media materials. We are hoping this could be paired with a range of different advertisements. Please find attached the application for radio advertisement.
Attached below is the event link for residents to sign up for free.
Would it be possible that these 5 events be made into Facebook events on the council page so residents can sign up and get notifications.
