Economic
Murrurundi’s main economic activities are agriculture particularly sheep, cattle and more recently, horse breeding, as well as retail, hospitality and tourism. There is a thriving arts and crafts culture, and it is a popular spot to visit on weekends.
Health Services
Murrurundi has a Medical Centre, GP, a hospital, an Ambulance Station and an aged care facility Murravale.
Recreation
There is a public swimming pool, tennis courts, a range of parks, golf course, a bowls club, and the major sports fields are Wilson Memorial Oval, and the Rosedale Horse Complex. Paradise Park and the Eye of the Needle walk are a few minutes drive out of town.
Education
Murrurundi has a pre-school, and Blandford Primary School is only a few minutes drive away down the New England Highway. Buses transport students to secondary education.
Housing
Median weekly rent for a dwelling is $250 (Census 2016). Murrurundi currently has residential land for sale.
Major Festival
King of the Ranges Stockman’s Challenge and Bush Festival is held in February at Rosedale Horse Complex.

Upper Hunter Shire is located in the Hunter Region of NSW, approximately 250km north of Sydney. The Shire is predominantly rural and encompasses 8,100km2.
