Upper Hunter Shire Council invites all members of the community to provide their considered thoughts and feedback on the Council’s Scone CBD Revitalisation plans. The proposed designs are a balance between maximising parking with the creation of green space featuring significant trees for shade. It uses the horse theme for many of the elements in the road reserve. The design caters for large trucks as these vehicles are required to transit through Kelly Street.
To date, the project has been guided by the Scone CBD Revitalisation Committee – made up of community volunteers, Scone Chamber of Commerce representatives and Upper Hunter Shire Council staff. It is through this committee we have been made aware of the differing views and needs of our local residents.
Recognising this, Council has developed three design options for consideration. Council is seeking feedback on all plans but specifically we would like to know your preferred design option for the road configuration on the west side from Ray White to the Post Office. We have developed three plans with variations to parking, landscaping and options for a dedicated left turning lane. Currently 44% of all vehicles turn left from Kelly Street travelling north into Liverpool Street.
These plans will be on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. All of the visual and descriptive material will be available on Council’s website, at the Scone Administrative Centre and on display at the ground floor of Campbells Corner on Kelly Street, where drop-in community consultation sessions will be held to answer questions and take feedback.
The project is funded by the NSW Government and Upper Hunter Shire Council.
